Leadership Virtual SIG Series: "Are you a Leader Worth Following?"
How to Develop Stronger Relationships with Yourself and Others

Becoming a leader worth following is an "inside" job beginning with the relationship you have with yourself. Leading from the heart, versus the head, requires a willingness to:
    • look within, to know yourself, to be aware of your emotions
    • identify the emotions you have in the moment,  manage your emotional reactions,
    • understand how they impact your behavior, your decision making, and your relationship with others.
This level of self-awareness provides the opening for leaders to recognize others' emotions, understand them, and manage relationships effectively.  Unlike the Intelligence Quotient, research studies show that emotional intelligence can be improved.  It is a set of skills that can be learned and practiced.  In this series, we will explore three pursuits: Know Yourself, Choose Yourself, Give Yourself, along with a set of learnable skills that support your journey to BE the leader worth following.

Join our Past President, Anita, the Passionista, Torres, to explore the CHOOSE YOURSELF pursuit!

    Date: Wednesday, July 23, 2014

    Trends in Talent Development

    Thursday,  August 28th, 2014

    5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

    Location:  Crowne Plaza - Orlando

    Program Description:

Training and developing employees is essential to achieve sustainable growth in today’s competitive marketplace. However, social and technological changes in our globalized economy have completely changed the way we develop talent. Learners are more autonomous and have instant access to information, at the time of need. New technologies have fueled digital communication. As the millennial generation continues to grow in the workforce, organizations will need to make major adjustments in their approach towards talent development.

This session addresses the key trends that are shaping the training industry today. Developing the competencies of our workforce will never cease as a priority, but we need to carefully consider whether our learning and development strategy meets these trends. This session will provide you with a deeper understanding on…

    ·         What are the most effective training practices and learning approaches?

    ·         With all the multimedia tools and new technologies, which ones should we be using?

    ·         Where does mobile learning, rapid learning, informal learning, and social media learning fit into all of this?

    ·         Which competencies of the L&D Professional are most important for the future?
